This intensive course will aid participants in preparing for the Project
Management Institute’s (PMI)® Project Management Professional (PMP)®
Certification Exam. The five project management processes (Initiating, Planning,
Executing, Controlling, and Closing) will be covered and cross-referenced to the
nine knowledge areas (Scope, Time, Cost, Quality, Human Resources,
Communication, Risk, Procurement, and Integration) of the A Guide to the
Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide – Fifth Edition).
Workshop Goals:
Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
- Have a foundational understanding of the 42 project management
processes and their alignment within the 5 process groups
- Understand the importance of Scope Planning and usage of a Work
Breakdown Structure.
- Understand Critical Path Network schedules and the calculations
involved.
- Understand estimating techniques and ranges and the calculations
regarding investment and earned value.
- Understand the distinctions and application of Quality planning,
Quality assurance, and Quality control.
- Understand the identification, quantification and response development
practices concerning a project’s risks.
- Understand basic contract types and their ramifications including
negotiation strategies.
- Understand the models of communication and conflict resolution.
- Understand the importance of organizational structure and the varying
roles of Project Managers within them.
